Parking Your Car In Princeville? Heads Up!
Starting next month things are going to get tougher, a lot tougher, for those who violet the no parking laws in Princeville. The community has been struggling with how to handle the illegal parking at places like Queens Bath and Hideaways. Parking is prohibited along the side of the road in Princeville but it’s done every day-all day. The Princeville Community Association has been struggling to handle this consistent problem that’s growing and not going anywhere anytime soon.

Enter “The Barnacle”. This device suctions on the windshield of a car and makes driving impossible. It’s a cheaper for the person violating the no parking law also where towing fees can run you around $300. The Barnacle has a touch pad that accepts credit cards and for $150 it will release and then you’ll need to take it to a drop box. The Barnacle is wireless and has tracking capabilities, I imagine if its not taken back you’ll be charged for it too.
Signs will be posted in Princeville to alert people about the new policy.

Kauai Strives For 100% Renewable Energy
The world is taking notice of Kauai, at least in the energy space. Spurred by local electric utility cooperative Kauai Island Utility Cooperative we’ve become the global leader in the procurement and execution of utility-scale renewable energy projects.
KIUC has sped past its goal of 50% renewable energy generation four years ahead of schedule. The project that got us over the hump was the recently commissioned Lawai Solar and Storage facility which is on 150 acres of former sugar land and it’s only the latest in a slew of innovative projects for the utility.
So how did our little island come to be a world leader? By recognizing that it can’t be done alone. Early on they brought in the Teslas and AESs to work with the challenges of a small island doing big things.
Currently Kauai is over 50% with 40% of the nighttime peak energy being supplied by back up batteries. The goal of 100% is closer now than anyone thought.

Kauai Home The Winner In Wall Streets Journal’s House Of The Year Poll
It’s really something that out of all the US states a home on Kauai was #1 for WSJ’s Home Of The Year poll. And it’s really, really something that it’s right here in Poipu Beach. But this is reflecting a trend that Realtor.com reported about: Smaller properties in smaller localities were up by 14% in 2018.

And this home won by a landslide garnering 75.75% of the votes! Located in Kukui’ula it’s a modern home, which is a bit out of the norm for the neighborhood. The ocean view 5,284-square-foot home has four bedrooms and five bathrooms. Both the living room and master suite were built with pocket and accordion-glass doors that open each space to the outdoors. All of the bathrooms include indoor showers and private outdoor garden showers. The master bath has an outdoor spa. There is an open-air yoga pavilion and a second story loft that doubles as a trading room.

The Seller bought the lot for a little over $2 million and spent $12 million building the home designed by Bing Hu.
