Creator of the Bachelor Lists Home
The creator of “The Bachelor” has put his Kauai North Shore home on the market for a little over double what he paid for it in 2016. Michael Fleiss had bought the home from Julia Roberts for $16.2 million and it was just listed for $34.5 million. Known as the “Faye Estate” this is a truly remarkable beachfront property and if it sells? The $34.5 million will buys a lot of roses. Poipu Beach Real Estate Update- Last week I sold Koloa Gardens #9 to a client of mine that I’ve been working with for almost 3 years. This sale is a testimony to getting educated about the market and waiting for the right time to buy. Over the years we had narrowed our focus and passed on properties that were not going to be just right for her. It was so satisfying to finally meet her in person and to find that perfect Poipu Beach home for her and, we almost missed out on this one! The first buyer backed out but we were ready with a backup offer! Koloa Gardens #9, a two bedroom two bath renovated ground floor unit sold for $475,000 (FS).

Netflix To Release New Hawaii Series This Friday
At the start of last year Netflix started filming “Finding Ohana” which is about two Hawaiian siblings that were raised in Brooklyn who spend their summer in Oahu rediscovering their culture. The filming continued during the pandemic and stars a local girl from Maui. This series has been praised by residents in this state as representing the culture.
Finding Ohana will start this Friday on Netflix and here is a preview:

Kauai Target Update
I heard from a reliable source that Target should be opening around June of this year. The new store will be located at the old K-Mart site by Kukui Grove Marketplace. I went down and took some photos.

Hawaiian Airlines Launches Pre Travel Program, More Cities Added By End of Month
Last week Hawaiian Airlines launched a pre-clearance travel program at their San Francisco airport for travelers that tested negative for COVID and are traveling to Hawaii. To participate you must create a Safe Travels App for every adult traveling to the islands. You must include all of the flights you are taking and the details on where you are staying. 72 hours before travel you’d upload your negative COVID test results. If this is done correctly you can bypass the prescreening at Oahu, Maui and the Big Islands airports.
By the end of January this program will be available at Boston Logan International, JFK International, Long Beach Airport and Phoenix International Airport. More airports to be announced for February.

Speaking Of Travel Apps…Changes For Maui Travel
If you are traveling to Maui there has been a new app that you are required to download prior to arrival, it was just approved by Governor Ige.
The “AlohaSafe Alert” app applies to interisland and transpacific travelers. It notifies users of potential COVID exposure and uses Google-Apple exposure notification system. Apparently some other states have something similar and if you have that app it’s acceptable to use that in Maui.
Something else that is new: Interisland travelers are now required to have negative COVID tests as well.
