Disney Kauai Casting Call For New Movie

A new movie starting Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson is going to be filmed right here on Kauai. The movie is based on the Jungle Cruise ride at Disneyland. I used to live in Orange County and went to a lot of the Disney conventions where there would be speakers that gave some fun history on the park and I learned a fun fact: the Jungle Cruise was Walt Disney’s favorite ride. It was said that as soon as he entered the park he would head straight for the ride and the employee’s would use their walkie talkies to let everyone know of his progress through the park so they could be prepared when he showed up.

A casting call was held on Saturday at the Kauai Beach Resort and hundreds of men, women and children from the ages of 6 years old to 90 showed up. All were auditioning to be extras filling the roles of fishermen/women, dock workers, restaurant workers, international travelers etc. No particular skills were required and Disney asked for people who had “interesting faces”.
A schedule for filming has not been released but stay tuned!

Kauai Year To Date Real Estate Review

Below is a graph of our real estate activity Year To Date, looking at this we can see where we were at a year ago at this time.

With the exception of land, the number of sales is up island wide. Prices are significantly up across the board for home sales, condominium sales are weighed down in the Poipu area because of the amount of leasehold Kiahuna Plantation units that have sold (this is not so for fee simple in Poipu). Condominium prices are doing well island wide otherwise. Land prices across the board are down and this is due to a large amount of new options island wide for land purchase becoming available and is not necessarily reflective of individual subdivisions.
