Kauai Vendor Fined For Selling Illegal Whale Ivory
A woman that has a booth at the Anahola Farmers Market was fined for attempting to sell a piece of jewelry made from whale ivory.  Two officers from the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources posed as customers and they claim that the woman attempted to sell them jewelry made from whale ivory.
This was a joint investigation by the Hawaii Department of Land and Natural Resources and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and is the first conviction for whale bone in Hawaii under the new wildlife trafficking statute that took effect on July 1, 2017. The charge was $250.00 and the vendor pleaded no contest to one count of wildlife trafficking, which is a misdemeanor.

U.S. News Poll Has Kauai As “Best Honeymoon Destination In The USA
We’re number one!  Kauai took first place for the best honeymoon destination in the country when U.S. New & World Report conducted a ranking.  In fact out of the 10 top destinations 5 of them were in the state of Hawaii.
For the report, U.S. News analyzed more than 700 locations — from the warm and tropical to the wintry and rustic — looking at several factors including ambiance, privacy, activity offerings and reputation.  Isn’t it great that Kauai was number one in these categories???

Hawaii The Most Challenging State For Retirees
If you are dreaming of retiring in Hawaii a new report reveals just how important it is to plan carefully and to plan ahead.
In Hawaii, $100,000 will only last a retiree about 1 year, two months and three days, according to the a recent. The second most expensive place for retirees was California, where $100,000 would stretch about four months further, followed by New York where one could retire for just over a year and seven months.
In comparison, the state where $100,000 goes the furthest — Mississippi at two years, seven months and six days — has annual expenditures of just $38,435.

Top Economists 2020 Forecast For Real Estate, Rates, and Recession
Last week a group of 14 leading economists arrived at a consensus 2020 economic and real estate forecast today at the National Association of Realtors’ first-ever Real Estate Forecast Summit. The economists who gathered at NAR’s Washington, D.C. headquarters expect the U.S. economy to continue expanding next year while projecting real estate prices will rise and reiterating that a recession remains unlikely.

Here are the highlights:
Recession in 2020: 29% said yes 71% said no
Loan Rates: 69% said they expect no change, while 31% expect the committee will lower the rate next year.
Housing Prices: Annual median home prices are forecasted to increase by 3.6% in 2020 and by 3.5% in 2021.
Rental Rates: expected to rise by 3.8% in 2020 and 3.6% in 2021.
Unemployment Rate: 3.7% for 2020 bumping to 3.9% in 2021
