Kiahuna Plantation Real Estate Update- Back On The Market | Kiahuna Plantation #25
More than 44 years ago, before Kiahuna Plantation Unit #25 had even been built, the owners’ parents chose this particular unit. Since then, it has remained in the same family, quietly becoming part of decades of memories. Now, after all these years, it is ready for its next chapter.
What has always set this top-floor corner unit apart are the details that are hard to find and impossible to recreate. There are four oversized side windows—two in the dining area, one in the kitchen, and one in the bedroom—that bring in extra light and give the unit a more open feel. It also has its own dedicated stairwell, which gives it a level of privacy that is unusual for a condominium.
From the unit there is a sweet ocean view, and between the top-floor location, corner position, and added privacy, it is easy to understand why this unit has performed so well as a vacation rental. Rental income information is available upon request.

Kauai Helicopter Crash Kills 3 Leaves 2 Injured
Last Thursday a Helicopter crash landed on a sandbar off Kalalua Beach while doing a tour of the Napali Coast killing three people and leaving the other two severely injured.
The tour was being done by Airborne Aviation which offers a “doors-off thrill-seeker adventure tour”. It seats up to four people with no middle seat.
There were 10 people on Kalalau Beach at the time the helicopter went down and helped with the rescue and administering first aid until help arrived.
There have been two other fatal helicopter crashed on Kauai since 2019. The last being in July, 2024 when an Ali’i Air Tour helicopter broke up after the tale of the helicopter got sheared off by the blades killing all three people on board.
“No Kings Rally” Draws Thousands Of Kauai Protestors
Our little island had three “No Kings” rallies last Saturday drawing over 2,760 people. There was one outside the Princeville Library (600 people), in Eleele on the South Shore (150 people) and in Lihue on Rice Street (over 2,000).
The protest in Lihue had speakers, live drumming and music. All events were described as peaceful, respectful and cohesive.
Leak Stopped At Lihue Sewer Plant
The 70,000 gallon a day sewage leak at the Lihue plant stopped on March 22. The leak was confined to the plant and lasted for 5 days from March 17 to March 22. There was 280,000 gallons of waste that got discharged before it was stopped, the discharge did not reach the ocean and didn’t pose a threat to the public at any time.
The spill was caused by a “decreased capacity of an underground injection control well”.
Hawaii Could Be Offering Electric Planes
Surf Air Mobility is the parent company of Mokulele Airlines and they just might be the first ones to offer electric interisland passenger flights. The company’s president, Louis Saint-Cyr, lived in Hawaii for 13 years and used to be an executive for Hawaiian Airlines. He said our state is a “natural fit” for Surf Air’s electric roll out. Surf Air has ordered 25 of the all-electric ALIA aircraft and has an option for 75 more, potentially investing $500 million into the venture.
It is entering into its trial phase and has already logged in more than 100,000 hours of flight time. During 2026 the planes will only be carrying cargo as they log in hours to get their BETA certification and the next step would be passenger certification which could happen in 2027/2028.
Landlords Must Offer Mediation Before Eviction
“Eviction Mediation Pilot Program” otherwise known as Act 278 took effect in Hawaii on February 5, 2026. This requires landlords to contact a mediation service at the time they issue an eviction notice and it will go on for two years.
Prior to this new act, which only applies to tenants who don’t pay rent, the landlord needed to give five business days in notice.
The mediation is free for the landlords and tenants and is being run by “Mediation Center of the Pacific” which is based on Oahu but has offices on all the other islands.
Here are the Five steps of the process:
📃 Step one: Landlord provides tenant with a notice of eviction and completes a notice for the appropriate island by uploading information to the central website mediationcentersofhawaii.org.
📃 Step two: The mediation center will reach out to the tenant to schedule a mediation session between the tenant and the landlord.
📃 Step three: The tenant has 10 days to respond and schedule a mediation session within 30 days of the eviction notice.
📃 Step four: If the tenant does not respond within 10 days, the landlord can move forward with eviction proceedings. If the tenant does respond and schedules mediation, the landlord must wait at least 20 days before instituting any eviction proceeding, which can be a months-long process.
📃 Step five: The tenant and landlord attend mediation within 30 days of the eviction notice and come to an agreement on how to move forward.
