Kauai Real Estate Update-  The island has been getting busier and our real estate market is picking up as well.  I represented the buyers who are buying this sweet home in Waimea, the 1960’s retro vibes and the massive lanai are incredible, I just love this home.  Single level with a jacuzzi, 3 bedroom 2.5 bath and super clean.  Listed at $1,350,000.  To find out what Sold, was Just Listed and what went Under Contract last week click here; Kauai Real Estate Update October 12 to 18, 2026

Poipu Beach Real Estate Update-  Sold |  Prince Kuhio 337 $645,000 (FS)
Originally listed at $695,000 my Buyers and I were able to negotiate an excellent price on this unit which sold for $640,000.  This unit is a winner, located on the top floor with a corner location and great views of the ocean across Prince Kuhio Park, renovated with AC.  It took a while to get a meeting of the minds but in the end this was a good price for both sides.

We were also able to get a meeting of the minds between my Seller of Poipu Sands 211 and a buyer.  This is a ground floor corner unit listed at $1.4 Million and an exceptional value at that.  To see this unit click here:  Poipu Sands 211 Under Contract

Governor Josh Green Visits Kauai
I was invited to attend the Kauai Chamber of Commerce 28
th Governors Luncheon where we got to hear Gov. Josh Green speak and I was also able to personally speak with him.  I’m a fan of the Governor and, believe it or not, we talked about Ronald Regan!  At this event there were 350 people and it was held at Koloa Landing here in Poipu.
The Governor was last on Kauai right after Hurricane Lowell which hit on September 7 & 8
th .  At the luncheon he gave us a breakdown on the damage done and the economic support Kauai received:

🏝️ Kauai Preliminary Damage Assessment:  $95,329,862
🏝️ 213 Residential Homes impacted (including Niihau):  16 destroyed, 40 major damage, 87 minor damage, 70 impacted.
🏝️ To assist KIUC: So. Cal Edison Trucks military airlifted to Kauai and Oahu’s Hawaiian Electric

🏝️ Department of Law sent additional deputies to Kauai.
🏝️ Kauai Tourism will get a total of $5 Million.
🏝️ 300 Hawaii National Guard were deployed here.
🏝️ Eight dialysis patients were transported to Oahu.

🏝️ 2,150 gallons and 243 cases of water and 2,045 meals distributed at Kauai airport.

🏝️ 259 Medicare beneficiaries provided for.

🏝️ DLNR took care of roads, coordinated repairs.

He also spoke about every island in our State has had challenges this year and changes that he hopes to implement.  He is running for reelection and our Mayor, Derek Kawakami, will be running with him as Attorney General.

Haena Beach Opens
A major tourist attraction and local weekend favorite spot; Haena Beach Park, reopened last Thursday.  Their hours will be from 7 a.m. to 6:45 p.m.  Shuttle service will also resume.
Overnight camping and hiking past Hanakapiai Beach Valley will not resume at this time.
As a reminder:  park access is free to residents, no reservations needed (state ID required).  For visitors reservations can be made at the Go Haena site:

Oahu, Maui and Big Island Real Estate Year-To-Date 2026 vs 2025
As Governor Josh Green pointed out at the luncheon:  every island in this state has had their headline grabbing challenges this year.  These events have equalized all the islands to some extent and these events will impact real estate.
Overall the housing market is showing resiliency and while the condominium numbers are down, look at the overall number for the State, it’s very low.
