Kauai Real Estate- Just Listed 1332 Kamalu Road, Kapaa | $995,000 (FS)
We don’t have a lot of new construction under a Million that are in this nice of condition. This home has been occupied by a single owner since it was built in 2019 and over $54K in additional improvements have been done. My favorite feature of this single level 2-Bedroom 2-Bath home is the screened in Lanai which is like a little outdoor protected sanctuary. The home is 959 square feet and the two-car garage is 546 square feet! It’s massive and has ample room for storage, beach toys and cars. Vacation renting is not allowed but you can long term rent.

Year Of Turmoil Ending For Kauai’s Police Department
The Kauai Chief of Police is retiring after a few not so good incidents. Chief Raybuck was recruited 5 years ago from Las Vegas to Kauai but has announced his retirement which will start after his 3 days suspension.
He started serving here on Kauai in April of 2019 but in 2021 had made some racist comments about Japanese for which he took ownership of, he was subsequently suspended and issued an apology. Then in March of this year he left his firearm in a bathroom stall, twice. Following that there were two complaints filed against the Chief alleging that he retaliated against the complainants which he denied in a statement.
The State of Hawaii Organization of Police Officers has been calling for the Chief’s resignation for several months and in September issued this statement; “This department is in crisis. It’s in chaos, and steps need to be taken immediately to right this ship.”
Sheraton Kauai Workers Settle Contract
Our Poipu Beach Sheraton was the last of the resorts in the state to ratify their contracts. This statewide hotel workers strike was the largest one since 1990. Prior to the Poipu Sheraton settling employees of the Royal Hawaiian, Moana Surfrider, Waikiki Marriot and the Sheratons in Waikiki ratified their contracts.
91% of the Poipu Sheraton hotel workers gave their strike vote for a raise, a reverse in staff cuts and protections for guest services and amenities jobs. Hotel workers complained that cuts and extra work was given to them during COVID which was understandable but reinforcements never went back after that.
The Waikiki picket lines were making the news and were significantly impacting guest services which also made the news. The fact that this has come to an end is welcome news, for all.
Las Vegas and The Bellagio
I attended my third Social Media Mastermind in Las Vegas this last week, this year it was at the Bellagio, previously it had been at the Encore. This is a small event (15 of us) and we have a couple of really long days getting updated on social media trends and getting our 2025 plans together. While print ads are still relevant, social media has eclipsed the impact their exposure factor but, unlike print, social media is an ever changing landscape of which I want to stay on top of.
The hubby went with me and we got some good Christmas shopping done, visited some family, had some yummy meals and saw the show “Awakening” at the Wynn (which was just okay).
The Bellagio Conservatory was stunningly decorated for Christmas, video can barely do it justice but I did a short one here, I went instantly into Christmas mode.
I’d love to know if you have ever stayed at the Bellagio and what is your favorite Vegas Hotel? Email me at; [email protected]
