Poipu Beach Real Estate Update-  Last week I listed a sweet ocean view condominium at the Sunset Kahili for $495,000 (LH).   This complex is only other Leasehold property in Poipu Beach.  This unit has huge ocean views and we received a full priced offer in just days.  For a complete list of all the real estate activity in Poipu Beach since the beginning of this year click here:  Poipu Beach Fee Simple Current Market Analysis
Kiahuna Plantation Real Estate Update- Kiahuna Plantation #123 is perhaps one of the most renovated units in this complex.  Located in building 18 the white-water ocean views are surprising, you just don’t expect to get this kind of view.  This successful vacation rental has a washer/dryer, laminate flooring throughout and recessed AC in both the living room and bedroom.  Rental statements available upon request.  For an update on all the real estate activity at this resort since January 1, click here:  Kiahuna Plantation Current Market Analysis

Woman Dies Snorkeling At Poipu Beach
Sadly a California woman died after being pulled from the lagoon area at Poipu Beach.  A week ago Monday the 77 year old visitor was snorkeling when the Lifeguards saw her in distress at 11:35 a.m. and within 5 minutes the Fire Department was there.  The woman was reported to be conscious and alert when the paramedics took over and transported her to Wilcox where she passed away later on that day.  Just what happened is not known, autopsy results are pending.
This marked the second drowning in the last two weeks.  The prior week another California visitor died while swimming at Tunnels which is on the North Shore.

Outrigger to Acquire Kauai Beach Resort and Spa
The Kauai Beach Resort is located just North of the Lihue Airport and most of the rentals have been managed by their onsite company “Eagle Point Hotel Partners” for years.  However that is all about to change.
Outrigger Resorts announced last week that they are acquiring this property making it their 7th acquisition in the last two years.  In the 1990’s Outrigger managed this property when it was a hotel.  In 2005 the hotel was turned into fee simple single hotel room type condominiums and they all quickly sold.  Outrigger will not be managing the properties association, that will remain with Hawaiiana.
This property has been a long time favorite for honeymooners, pilots and airline stewards/stewardesses.  They also have multiple banquet facilities that are used for conventions and various shows, onsite restaurants/bars, gift shops and a spa.  For many years a live production of “South Pacific” was held there but it closed down some time ago.

Local Spotlight:  Kauai Painter Robin McCoy
I’ve known Robin McCoy for over 20 years, like me, her roots are in Southern California and she was living in Seal Beach before she moved here to Kauai with her husband Bill McCoy.  While her artwork has always been stunning, I took a particular interest when she did a charming painting called “Umbrellas At Kiahuna” which captured the lovely setting at the Kiahuna Plantation.  I found it to be so bright and fun that I asked her to collaborate with me on a real estate mailout which we did.  It was a big hit.
I visited her Gallery at Warehouse 3540 and fell in love with her light filled paintings of flowers.  She also has a stunning sunset painting of Brenneckes.
Her Gallery offers everything from original art to $3.00 notecards.  She is a true South Shore treasure.
