Kauai Sends 20 Foot Container To Maui Fire Victims
Inspired by a Maui family who turned the good fortune of their Lahaina home spared from the fires into a distribution center for those less fortunate, a Kauai couple spearheaded a 20 foot container to be delivered last week full of supplies. The donation drive was large enough to fill the container full of everyday items that are so desperately needed. The distribution center has since organized a system to get supplies to people that cannot come get them or for those that are too ashamed to ask for help.
Poipu Beach, Sunday Morning Monk Seal
The Monk Seal Patrol, they are vigilant and lightning fast responsive. A very short time after this Monk Seal rolled up onto the shores of Poipu Beach on Sunday morning they were out there, put ropes around the Seal and sat nearby to make sure that people were keeping their distance.
The Seals attract a massive amount of attention and those that don’t know why they beach themselves can inadvertently cause them harm. The volunteers both educate and protect.
I just love it when I see them, it reminds me of how special Kauai is and how amazing it is that I live around this all the time.
Farmer Ag Land Still Available On Kauai
The Agribusiness Development Corporation is offering ag land to farmers and ranchers in an effort to diversify the states economy income source from largely tourism based to farming and ranching. Hawaii has deep roots in being state whose income was derived from sugar and pineapple farming. With the changing of the times tourism has taken the lead and this program is hoping to help balance this out.
This is not a new program; they have grown to now have 22,801 acres of land of which a little over 3,000 acres are still available on Kauai and Oahu. To find out more on this program including available land click here: Agribusiness Development Corporation

Oahu, Maui and Big Island Real Estate Year To Date 2023 vs 2022
I had covered the Kauai Real Estate activity Year To Date a couple of weeks ago and this week we can look at the other islands.
The Maui fires on August 8th will start to reflect in these September numbers and I expect this trend to continue with the amount of inventory that they have lost. Maui opened up on October 8th for tourism which will help.
Sales are down across the board for both Homes and Condominiums. The Median Price is up for both Homes and Condominiums with the exception of Oahu which had a decrease of -5.48% and -0.98% respectively. More so than ever, the Median Price is not anything to hang your hat on given the low amount of sales but it is noteworthy that despite this we’re seeing some upward growth.
