Bomb Threat Delays San Diego To Honolulu Flight
A Hawaiian Airlines flight 15 was delayed 5 hours last Tuesday, May 20th, when a passenger told a flight attendant that the man next to him said he had a bomb. The plane was pushing back from the gate when the flight attendant was told about the alleged bomb, the pilot was immediately notified. The plane never left the ground, was on the tarmac for an hour before the FBI boarded the plane and took a 35-year-old man into custody. The man that was arrested is a member of the military.
There were 283 passengers on board and 10 crew members, they all disembarked from the Airbus A330 and the plane left 5 hours later. Some passengers opted to take a different flight but the ones that made it to Honolulu 5 hours late said that the man was acting erratic before he boarded the plane, a few people thought he was just “on something”.
Saturday Heads Up! Parade In Kalaheo May 31
There will be a parade this Saturday in Kalaheo to honor Jaedyn Janae Puahaulani Pavao along with her Halau; Ka Lei Mokihana o Leina’ala. Jaedyn had a historic win this year at the Merrie Monarch Festival by winning Miss Aloha Hula.
The parade will happen between 1:45 and 4 p.m. with the route beginning at Kalāheo Elementary School, then going straight up Pu‘u Road, taking a right on Papalina Road and ending at the Kalāheo Neighborhood Center which is just off the main highway.
If you are not planning on attending the parade this is a heads up, all of these streets that I listed are main arteries for traveling through and around Kalaheo.
The Real Cost of Leasehold Property in Hawaii
Over the last 21 years of my real estate career, I’ve gotten literally thousands of phone calls from people who see a leasehold property on Zillow. The callers range from being so excited about the price that they are barely hearing anything that I’m saying, others are skeptical and sometimes a bit rude because they suspect a scam, the last bunch are confused about the price and are looking for clarification. I understand all of these reactions because the confusion due to the fact that the monthly leasehold information that agents put in to our Multiple Listing Service that is not showing up on these third-party sites.
One of the best things our Kauai MLS system did was to make the first line of the listing description of any leasehold property say: “This is a leasehold property.” This helps because the third party sites just don’t have fields that make this obvious enough.
In this video I dive into this a little more. Enjoy!
Thinking Of Suing The Developer? New Hawaii Bill Could Delay That
A Construction Defect Claim is when a condominium or home owner sues the developer over construction defects. House Bill 420 seeks to change this and the Bill passed the legislature and is on the desk of Gov. Josh Green to sign, the Governor will either sign or veto it by July 9, if he does nothing the bill will pass.
Known as the “Contractor Repair Act” this bill will have homeowners reporting construction defects directly to the contractor who did the work on their condominium or home before they file a lawsuit against the developer.
Two points of view. ➡️One side is saying this bill allows individual contractors to fix a problem before lawyers become involved and lawsuits filed. Lending giants Freddie Mac and Fannie Mae will not allow loans on developments that are involved in a lawsuit, this means buyers can only proceed by paying cash which reduces the buyer pool and drives down prices.
➡️The other point of view is that this could make it easier for developers and contractors to get away with sloppy construction and leave the homeowner with the problem.
